Soldier and Family Assistance Center (SFAC)
The Soldier and Family Assistance Center (SFAC) is now open on the first floor of the Soldier Support Center, Building 4-2843 Normandy Drive, for Warriors in Transition and their Families. This center is a one-stop location for support services regarding finances, childcare, family advocacy, budgeting, Chaplain assistance, legal assistance, military personnel issues, logistics and transportation, installation access, benefits counseling, education and employment opportunities. Services are provided on site, brought to the site, or facilitated off-site by appointment. Soldiers & Families can enjoy a comfortable environment to take a break and read a book or watch TV, have a computer available with internet access and enjoy refreshments. Children have their own special play area, with plenty of toys and a TV for movies. Private rooms are available to meet with on-site consultants. All contact with these professionals is provided at no charge and remains confidential. The SFAC also serves as an information and referral resource. The center operates Monday through Friday, from 0800-1700. After hour assistance is available through the Warrior in Transition Battalion Unit Staff Duty Officer at 910-907-5219. For additional information, please call the Soldier & Family Assistance Center at 910-907-4998, or Army Community Service at 910-396-8683.
Wounded Soldier and Family Hotline: 1-800-984-8523
The purpose of the hotline is two-fold:
- To offer wounded, injured, or ill Soldiers and their family members a way to share concerns on the quality of patient care.
- To provide senior Army leaders with visibility on medically-related issues so they can properly allocate resources to better serve Soldiers and families.
The hotline is an avenue to gather information about medical care as well as suggest ways we can improve our medical support systems. The hotline has not been established to circumvent the chain of command, but rather to give Soldiers and family members an additional means to resolve medical-related issues. Any type of retribution directed towards those who use the hotline will not be tolerated.

Wounded Warriors Keep Enlistment Bonuses
Soldiers who are wounded or become ill while on active duty are entitled to keep all recruitment bonuses due them. The Army reconfirmed that policy after a wounded Soldier incorrectly received a letter stating he was required to pay back any enlistment money he received. Sick or wounded Soldiers who received such letters should call the Wounded Soldier and Family Hotline at 800-984-8523 to report the problem. Overseas callers may go through the Defense Switch Network (DSN) at 312-328-0002. Callers may expect to receive a response within 24 hours.
