FREE TAX ASSISTANCE NEW
The Office of the Staff Judge Advocate, Legal Assistance Section, will be preparing and electronically filing federal and state income tax returns free of charge for members of the NC National Guard and their families February 15 through April 15. Services will be provided every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 0900 –1400, at the USFPO Building, Joint Force Headquarters, Raleigh, NC. By appointment only. FREE LEGAL ASSISTANCE
Most of us know how unsettling legal issues can be. Legal problems contribute to anxiety, worry, and distractions from the important things in life, such as Family, job performance, and financial stability.
The North Carolina National Guard Legal Assistance Program, co-sponsored by Family Programs and the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate, offers a wide variety of legal services that we make available to all our eligible Service Members, retirees, and their dependents. Our mission is to provide you with the highest-quality legal services possible.

- Estate Planning: Wills, simple trusts, powers of attorney, “living wills”
- Estate Administration: Advice on how you can be a successful estate executor/administrator
- Family Law: Separations, child-related issues, adoptions, paternity

Be assured that we take your confidentiality very seriously. If your issues require the assistance of other types of professionals, we can also refer you to an appropriate resource within Family Programs, state or local government, or the community at-large.
APPOINTMENTS
Appointments with our legal assistance attorney are available Monday through Friday during normal duty hours at Joint Force Headquaters, 1636 Gold Star Drive, Raleigh, NC, 27607, but you must call ahead so that we can be sure that we allocate the appropriate amount of time with our attorney for you to discuss your case.

COURT CASES
Our Legal Assistance attorney cannot represent you in a court proceeding. But, we can prepare you to go to court for yourself, if appropriate, or we can refer you to a competent civilian attorney who can represent you, often on a reduced fee basis.
