To Request a DA Photo, it is mandatory for all soldiers to get an appointment in the VIOS system prior to arrival, no walk-ins are permitted. You will need either your CAC card and a valid PIN, or your AKO username and password. Go to the website https://www.vios.army.mil .
On the home page, click anywhere on the Eastern US to log in using your CAC, or on the ‘AKO-EAST’ button to use your AKO credentials. Click on the work order icon and fill out the pink areas of the form.
Once you sign in, first time users should select ‘New User’ and select ‘North Carolina ARNG’ your current organization (Army Reserves select NCNG-JFHQ for Current Organization) from the dropdown box that appears.
For both DA & Command Photos, request a DA Photo, select the DOIM Photo Lab, and pick an appointment time.
Command Photos should be notated in the ‘Additional Instructions’. Please be sure to be on time for your appointment.

What Do I Wear?
Per AR -640 5.c the only Authorized uniforms for DA Photos are Class A Greens and the new ASU and other uniform will be denied. Shoes and headgear are not needed. All permanent awards, including State awards, ARE to be worn. Soldiers are responsible for making sure that their uniforms are squared away. It is highly recommended that you carry your uniform with you and change at the latrines on the facilities. Command Photos are taken in ACUs. How Do I Get There?
The DA Photo Studio is located at the Joint Forces Headquaters 6136 Gold Star Drive, Raleigh NC 27607 (locacted behind the Claude T Bowers Center at 4105 Reedy Creek Rd Raleigh, North Carolina 27607). We are located on the second floor follow the sign for the 382 PAD.

Who Needs A DA Photo?
All Officers, Warrant Officers, and NCOs of the rank E6 and above must have a current DA Photo on file. If you have been promoted, received a major award, or your photo is more than 5 years old, than it needs updating. Some boards require that your DA Photo be an even more recent one. Soldiers will not receive a physical copy of their photo, and their image will be uploaded to the DAPMIS system.Upon acceptance through AKO/DA photo link, it will become your official DA Photo in your IPERMS file.
