Family Readiness Hotline
1-800-621-4136 ext. 6734

The North Carolina National Guard after several weeks of planning and development has established a North Carolina National Guard Family Readiness Hotline which will be used to provide the most up-to-date and accurate information available in the event of incidents affecting deployed units while also complying with Department of Defense guidelines on operational security and Family notifications.

These guidelines are designed to protect Guard members and their Families from inadvertent and inaccurate notification of the condition of a Soldier or Airmen from other military Family members or by members of the media. Delaying the release of detailed information on incidents in a combat zone can be frustrating, but doing so ensures only timely and accurate information gets out.

The Hotline phone number is 1-800-621-4136 Ext. 6734 and will give Family members the option of contacting someone in State Family Programs at 1-800-621-4136 Ext. 6124 if they have further questions or express a desire to speak with a representative from their nearest Family Assistance Center or a Military Family Life Consultant.

OUR MILITARY KIDS Announces Program Expansion

Our Military Kids, a program that provides grants to children of deployed and severely injured Reserve and National Guard military, has expanded its program eligibility in two ways. The program which had been open to children in grades K – 12, will now be offered to 3 and 4 year-olds. Our Military Kids grants cover six months of an activity to a maximum award of $500.00. Children who have a parent deployed for 365 days or more will now be eligible for a second grant award provided the parent has 60 days remaining on the deployment orders and 6 months has elapsed since the first grant award.
