Fort Fisher
The Fort Fisher Training Center (FFTC) is operated by the North Carolina National Guard (NCNG) to provide quality, economical, full service training facilities in support of classes, conferences, and workshops for the National Guard, DOD, and Federal/State/Local Government Agencies. The Center’s coastal setting provides a quiet area in which to focus on objectives, maximize opportunities, and minimize disruptions all while providing the possibility to enjoy the local area.


The Center is located between the Cape Fear River and the Atlantic Ocean with the U.S. Air Force’s Fort Fisher Recreation Area at Kure Beach, NC, 20 miles south of Wilmington. The Center is immediately adjacent to the Confederate’s Fort Fisher and Civil War battlefield site, the NC Aquarium, and a short Ferry ride from the coastal village of Southport.
The Center is home to the NCNG’s Mid-Atlantic Narcotics Training Academy (MANTA), Starbase Program, and the NC Military Museum. Quality lodging and dining facilities are located on site. The total training cost per person averages $50 per day.

With over 10,000 square feet of state of the art classrooms and meeting spaces, the Fort Fisher Training Center has the facility to meet your needs. Facilities are ideally suited to support strategic planning, staff training/ team building, executive seminars and workshops, as well as recurring individual training qualification classes and unit training.
The Center is fully capable of supporting major exercises such as Warfighter CPXs, Staff Ex.s, and other simulations with interconnection for networks and communications between all classrooms and outside training areas.
Two computer labs contain up-to-date equipment and software. One lab is setup for Distance Learning The Center has the capability to provide up to 40 laptops in support of computer based training.
·         A Fire Arms Training System (F.A.T.S.) boasts a variety of training options including; weapon zeroing, qualification, and tactical/police video scenarios.
·         Bldg. 300 is a simunitions house that can be used for entry and room clearing training. Simunitions, paint rounds and blanks up to 5.56 is authorized for use. Units must bring own equipment and supplies.
o    Two trailer mounted porta-johns are on site. Units will coordinate own cleaning services for trailers.

NC National Guard Old Hickory & Hercules Halls
Provide 64 quiet comfortable rooms. Each room has a double bed, it’s own vanity, cable TV , mini-fridge, telephone, and high-speed internet connection. Each pair of rooms shares a toilet and shower with security locking systems when in use. The lodges are situated within walking distance of all classrooms, dinning hall, Cape Fear River, and the beach. Rooms are serviced daily.
Room cost is $25 per night.

Beach Cottages & Mobile Homes

Air Force Recreation Area housing is used to accommodate overflow lodging needs for larger groups. These housing options can lodge between 4 – 10 people comfortably.
The Sandpebble is FFTC’s full service dinning hall. The dinning facility is available for all of your meals during your stay at FFTC. The dinning hall is located within walking distance of all classrooms and lodges.


The cost of meals is $23 per day for all three meals. You can also customize your meal plan. Individual meal costs are as follows; breakfast $7 per day, lunch is $8 per day, and dinner $8 per day. All prices are per person.
